D. Edward Supkis Jr. M.D.
Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME)
Dr. Supkis brings over a decade of experience as a Senior AME, specializing
in all classes of medical certification and special issuance. As a
Board-Certified Anesthesiologist, he has collaborated with pioneers like
Michael DeBakey in complex cardiovascular cases.
A native of Clear Lake, Dr. Supkis was part of the space program's early
days, living among the original seven astronauts. His father was a key
figure at the Manned Spacecraft Center (now Johnson Space Center).
Passionate about aviation and space, Dr. Supkis co-authored a book and
funded a documentary on the early space program. He is also an Instrument
Rated Multiengine Pilot with around 2000 flight hours, flying a 1979
Beechcraft Duke.
For comprehensive color vision testing, he offers Ishihara and Dvorine
pseudoisochromatic plates, along with a Farnsworth Lantern.
